Team SouL ends drought as BGMS Season 3 becomes one of BGMI’s most popular events ever

The BGMI Masters Series Season 3, which began on July 19 at the NODWIN Gaming Arena in New Delhi, brought down its curtains on August 11. It ended as one of the most popular Battlegrounds Mobile India competitions ever, thanks to a new format that included some new rules to appeal to audiences.

This event was won by Team SouL, its first trophy in almost two years, who clinched 123 points in the Finals. Considered one of the game’s most followed esports organizations, the side pocketed almost $66,000, while runner-up Entity, who fell agonizingly short (by two points), became richer by around $18,000.

The tournament winner and third-placed side, Team Tamilas, were the only sides to win multiple rounds in the Finals. Both came out on top three times, with the latter taking home a little under $9,000 for its troubles.

The BGMI Masters Series Season 3 reached 318.7K Peak Viewers during Round 12 of the Finals on Day 3. With the event going down to the wire thanks to the engrossing battle between the top two, audiences were eager to see who would come out on top in the last round, with SouL eventually emerging victorious.

Round 11 was a close second in terms of most popular games, with SouL’s win making things highly intriguing heading into the last round. In fact, the top six were separated by just 19 points, which played a big role in this BGMI tournament also doing 4.9M Hours Watched and 96.6K Average Viewers over 51 hours of airtime.

Moving to comparisons, the BGMS S3 became the third-most-popular competition ever in the game, with only the Launch Party BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA and the iQOO Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 ahead of fit. Its partnership with a leading media company in the Indian subcontinent played a big role in reaching a wider audience base as the marketing campaign was more focused.

Of course, the tweaked format played its part as well, with four stages ensuring the action was non-stop. There were also fresh and unique rules like Bounty System, Impact Player, and Power-play Duration, helping keep the action intense throughout as teams were encouraged to be more aggressive.

Such a good response from audiences also helped organizer NODWIN Gaming, as this tournament became its most popular BGMI offering of all time. Only one event stands above it when considering all competitions, and that is the PUBG Mobile Global Open 2024, which saw Japan’s REJECT create history.

BGMI has recently been through its ups and downs, but the game, India’s version of PUBG Mobile, continues to be highly popular among fans and players. Most importantly, its viewership figures are continuously rising after its return from a ban around a year back, and it remains to be how far the game can go with many more events to come.
